A guiding principle of BMWC is for our employees to become involved in the communities in which we work and live. Many of our employees participate in various ways by serving on boards of nonprofit agencies, volunteering time to help out various organizations and participating in fund raising to help with specific causes or campaigns of organizations in our communities. Recently, our employees worked together to assist the senior citizens in the Indianapolis-area for Rebuilding Together Indianapolis.
From the Indianapolis office, Project Engineer Alex Climaco and Fire Sprinkler Designer Michael Niemier led the BMWC Rebuilding Together effort to repair and elevate a home for senior sisters living together in the Indianapolis-area. Repairs were made to both the inside and outside of the house in the areas of electrical, carpentry, painting, masonry and landscaping.
Below is an excerpt from the letter the appreciative sisters wrote thanking Alex, Michael and the BMWC Team who renovated their house.
“We are extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to be in this program, sincerely appreciative of our House Captains for their excellence and steadfastness in seeing that so much was done, and to BMWC for participating in this initiative and helping us to improve our ‘quality of life’ in our home. May all of this goodwill you have shared with us be returned back to your company many times over… It was amazing and we want to again thank Alex and Mike, our House Captains, and your company for assisting us in this way.”
BMWC has been a proud sponsor of Rebuilding Together Indianapolis since 2007 and continually supports its mission of repairing homes, revitalizing communities, and rebuilding lives. Additionally, BMWC Project Coordinator Kimberly Blanco currently serves on Rebuilding Together Indianapolis Volunteer Committee.
This effort took a lot of pre-planning, coordination and pre-work before the official work day. BMWC had 18 volunteers on build day, along with House Captains Alex and Michael. Many of our union employees donated their time and expertise to help make this a success as well.
