BMWC receives Governor’s Workplace Safety Award

Awarded for Partnerships in Construction

Governor's Workplace Safety AwardsBMWC was awarded the 2017 Governor’s Workplace Safety Award for Partnerships in Construction at the Indiana Safety and Health Conference and Expo on March 2. The annual event is hosted by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce and Central Indiana Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers in partnership with the Indiana Department of Labor.

BMWC received the award for Partnerships in Construction for being instrumental in creating the Incident and Injury Free CEO Forum. This forum consists of a group of 14 industry leaders who are dedicated to eliminating workplace injuries within the construction industry. The forum decided to work together and find partners to take part in a week each year dedicated to safety. Held annually, “Safety Week,” aims to inspire all in the construction industry to be leaders in workplace safety and health. Since 2015, “Safety Week” has had 40 company sponsors and at least 23 alliances which have included the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, Construction Coalition for Safety, the American Society of Safety Engineers and many others.

BMWC’s managers provide job site activities during Safety Week to bring everyone together. Our safety motto is “Safety For Life,” so Safety Week is just an opportunity to celebrate our employees and thank them for their hard work and dedication that they provide every day.

Commenting on the award recipients, Indiana Chamber President and CEO Kevin Brinegar said, “A healthier workplace means more productive workers and a more profitable workplace. By providing an environment of workplace safety, these award winners are protecting the company’s most important asset – its workers.”
