For the past 21 years, the National Maintenance Agreement Policy Committee (NMAPC) has been honoring construction companies for noteworthy safety accomplishments at the annual Zero Injury Safety Awards Gala (ZISA).
Recently, the National Maintenance Agreement Policy Committee recognized the partnership between BMWC, a Confidential Joliet Refinery and the Will/Grundy County Building Trades at their annual Zero Injury Safety Awards (ZISA) Gala. The efforts of the Tripartite received the Gold Star Safety Award, which is the highest award given by the NMAPC.
In order to be eligible for the Gold Star award, a company must work over 1,000,000 manhours at the host facility without a recordable. The BMWC Team at the Confidential Joliet Refinery has worked more than 1.8 million manhours since their last recordable injury.
This includes working major Turnarounds, working several emergency jobs around the clock, through the heat of the summer and the bitter cold of the winters in Joliet, Il. This is something that everyone working at that facility should be very proud of. This is the seventh consecutive year that our team has been recognized with a Gold Star award!
BMWC was also awarded two Bronze Star awards for 332,090 work hours at Nutrien in Lima, OH and 255,154 work hours without incident at Stepan Chemical in Elwood, IL.
Finally, NMAPC awarded BMWC a Certificate of Merit for 75,925 injury free work hours at the BP Whiting Refinery in Whiting, IN.
“The supervision and project team are consistently taking our Safety-for-Life programs like Task Hazard Analysis, Group Audits, Pre-Job Planning and Behavior-Based Safety to the highest level. Together, we all celebrate their success in creating a Zero Injury Site,” BMWC’s Corporate Safety Director Clay West says.
This is the fourth year in a row that BMWC received awards for job sites in three different states (Indiana, Illinois and Ohio). Our teams wouldn’t be successful without great leadership, it’s BMWC’s strong leadership and trust in their teams that creates a culture of safety in the workforce. We also want to thank each team member that worked diligently and consistently to achieve this outstanding award and to continue pressing on towards a zero injury workplace. BMWC is proud to have such a phenomenal team.
