In April of 1955, Jack Baker, Pat McHenry and Bob Welch took a risk and purchased the small mechanical contractor they worked for in Indianapolis. Jack Baker was a man who had a strong sense of right and wrong and was committed to living according to his principles. He was known for his strong work ethic, his leadership abilities and his compassion for others. He demonstrated an interest in the success of others and went out of his way to encourage and challenge those around him to reach their potential.

Today, through Jack’s vision and the hard work of thousands of employees, along with support from people and companies, such as yours, BMWC is blessed to celebrate six decades of service. As an award-winning leader in industrial construction services, I am pleased to announce that this month marks BMWC’s 60th Anniversary. Since the company began on April 15th, 1955, BMWC has become one of North America’s most innovative and respected industrial construction contractors, voted Engineering News Record (ENR) Magazine’s “Contractor-of-the-Year.”

Originally known as Baker-McHenry, Inc. (and subsequently Baker, McHenry & Welch), BMWC has built its strength, reputation and expanding footprint on Jack Baker’s vision, determination and “Guiding Principles” that still form the backbone of our success today. BMWC’s core values of Safety, Customers, Integrity, Leadership, People and Profitability further testify to the business fundamentals that Jack based this company upon.
